Topics and workshop:

THE POWER OF EFFECTIVE ONLINE PUBLICITY AND MARKETING.

Abstract:

THE POWER OF TRADITIONAL AND ONLINE PUBLIC RELATIONS

for the e-Tourism Industry

This conference aims to create awareness, educate, and update the travel and tourism industry with sound online strategies to improve sales and profits with minimum costs and efforts.

I would like to focus on one element of visibility – Public Relations; the best strategies you can use (or that has been used) for Online (ePublic Relations) and Offline (Traditional Public Relations).

It’s 2009. If anyone is NOT using online outlets and social media at this point they are too far behind and are no longer an effective communicator. It is our responsibility to know the trends and know where our audience is - if you are not there, your competitor will be. They'll take the press and leave you behind.

Traditional PR can be wasteful because it’s inaccessible, it doesn’t scale and it’s not very measurable. Online PR is the antidote to these issues, and is perfect for firms who want to see an immediate return on their marketing spend.

My presentation will also share a ‘101’ view on how to research and implement a basic Online PR / Social Media Campaign.  Specifically, it offers some best practise advice on how to use Twitter , Flickr , YouTube and the Blogsphere for successfully seeding campaign ideas.

ePR will allow you to truly communicate if e -tourism extends beyond transactions to include customer relationships and offers opportunities for tourism organizations to cost effectively expand their customer base and communicate with customers and related partners.

Yet despite many e-tourism advantages, developing e-tourism is difficult, especially for organizations in less developed countries.

ePR combined with traditional media can bridge this challenge.
